Port Douglas is 70 kilometres (45 miles) north of Cairns International Airport (CNS).  You can fly directly to Cairns from many international locations or transit from many cities and tourist destinations in Australia. There are also rail and luxury coach connections from the south (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane) and cruise ships call into both Cairns and Port Douglas.

Villa-Aust-LocRental cars (including mini-vans and 4WDs), limousines and shuttle buses to Port Douglas are available at Cairns International Airport and the bus, rail and shipping terminals in Cairns. Bookings are essential and we can assist doing this if required.

The drive along the scenic coastal highway, it is about 60-120 minutes depending on which method you choose (shuttle buses are slower than rental cars because they detour and stop along the way).

You can also take a helicopter, which takes about 15 minutes (unless you’d like to take a detour over the reef).

One-way or return bookings can be made from Cairns for each form of transport, including one-way car rentals without extra drop off charges or other penalties.
